Organ Rejection in Leadership: Tackling the Premature Departure of GEM Talent

DATE: Tuesday, 8th April 2025 | 10:00AM – 12:30PM

The global protests following George Floyd’s death in 2020 sparked important conversations about diversity, equality, and inclusion, with many organisations, including those in housing, committing to diversify leadership and address systemic barriers. However, some Global Ethnic Majority (GEM) leaders have prematurely left their roles, raising questions about the impact of systemic biases, tokenism, and a lack of genuine inclusivity. These departures highlight a gap between diversity commitments and the ability to create environments where GEM talent can thrive. This roundtable aims to explore the challenges GEM leaders face, examining cultural and structural issues within organisations and identifying solutions to support and empower them.
