Victor da Cunha
Chief Executive Officer, Curo Group
Vic joined the organisation as Chief Executive in 2011. His initial focus was on integrating three housing associations into one organisation with a clear customer service ethos. From these foundations, Curo was formed as a re-energised, social purpose-driven housing association and housebuilder.
Today Curo has grown the number of homes in management by around 2,000, it has trebled its turnover, increased resident engagement and satisfaction and has around 2,100 homes in its development pipeline. It is also an Investors In People ‘Gold’ employer, has been ranked in the Best Companies Top 25 housing associations to work for, and has won many awards for the services, new homes and regeneration activities it undertakes.
Vic is Chair of Homes for the South West – a collaboration between housing associations working together to increase affordable housing supply in our region. Together these organisations can deliver 25,000 new homes over the next five years.
Vic is Chair of Local Space Housing Association, which provides high-quality temporary housing for homeless families in East London and chairs the National Housing Federation’s National Diversity, Equalities & Inclusion Group.
Chan Kataria OBE
Group Chief Executive, emh group
Chan is the Group Chief Executive of emh group, a housing and care group with a turnover of £125m, 1,100 employees and over 20,000 homes in management. The group is a major developer of affordable homes and provider of care and support services in the East Midlands. Prior to this role, Chan worked for various local, regional, and national housing organisations. He is also a non-executive director in several organisations, including the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) professional body and Housemark. Outside of the sector, Chan is a Board member of a regional Hospice, a FE college, and the CBI Regional Council.
Lara Oyedele
Vice President, Chartered Institute of Housing
Lara Oyedele, the current Vice President of the Chartered Insititute of Housing, a social entrepreneur, property developer and campaigner for affordable housing.
She is passionate about eliminating homelessness and promoting diversity in leadership. Originally trained as a journalist, she has over 30 years’ experience working in housing associations, local authorities, private sector housing management companies and homelessness charities. A former Housing Association CEO, Lara was founding Chair of, and creative force behind, BMENational, the coalition promoting ethnic minority housing associations in the England.
Lara is chair of homelessness charity, Hope Housing (Bradford Ltd) and a Non- Exec Director of Housing 21. Lara runs the training company Black on Board whose aim is to increase diverse representation on boards, and is also developing an affordable housing company.
Caroline Pillay
Senior Partner, Airey Miller
Caroline Pillay is a Senior Partner at Airey Miller, Chair of the Airey Miller’s Councils’ Councils Building Homes Forum and Chair of the Homes for Lambeth Group, Caroline is also a Non-Executive Director of Social and Sustainable Capital. Caroline is also an ambassador for Women in Social Housing.
A seasoned built environment professional Caroline specialises in supporting public sector providers as a client side advisor in the planning and delivery of Council re-development programmes. Caroline has advised on numerous housing projects including Housing PFI and major estate regeneration schemes.
Prior to joining Airey Miller Caroline was for over 10 years director of her own Ltd company CAP Regeneration consultants providing client side support for the delivery of major projects with councils. More recently as a partner within Airey Miller Partnership which established in 2015 as a subsidiary Airey Miller Ltd to provide the combined skills of strategic, commercial and technical services specifically targeted to support Local authority development programmes and activity.
Caroline is extremely passionate about improving social housing, placemaking and regeneration and the positive impact this brings for improving lives, transforming spaces, enhancing existing communities and creating new ones.
In her spare time Caroline mentors aspiring housing professionals as an informal mentor and with Housing Diversity Network more formal mentoring.
