Unconscious Bias in Executive Recruitment:
The Chicken and Egg Syndrome

Difficult Conversations Part ONE  | 27th November 2020 @ 14:00

Many Black, Asian and ethnic executives who have the skills to get C-Suite promotions, or NED positions, do not succeed in doing so.  A common obstacle is failure at interview – because they are not perceived as ‘looking like’ leaders. Subtle unconscious biases can pervade the recruitment process, and if the playing field is to be levelled this needs to be addressed, or BAME candidates will continue to face an uphill struggle in competition for executive roles.

How can the roles and processes of executive head-hunters and recruitment consultants, who possess the hiring power be used to challenge unconscious bias? Join Connex Housing Leadership Network roundtable to discuss the challenges we must overcome in the sector and the changes we must implement to eradicate subtle but harmful biases.
