Tanya Carter FCIPD

Chief People Officer, East London NHS Foundation Trust

Tanya has Human Resource management experience spanning over 20 years within a number of public sector organisations. A significant period of which has been spent in middle and senior management positions, managing multi-disciplinary teams.

Tanya has worked in a primary care trust and three acute care NHS trusts, as well as working in two London local authorities and further education colleges. Her experience also includes lecturing on undergraduate programmes and working as a management consultant with PriceWaterhouseCooper (PwC) and has a passion for equality, diversity, inclusion and wellbeing.

Dr. Shaun Davis

Global Director of Compliance & Sustainability, Royal Mail

One of a relatively small number of Chartered Directors and a Fellow of The Institute of Directors Shaun has a wide portfolio of responsibilities across the Royal Mail Group; his responsibilities include safety, health, wellbeing and sustainability. He is also a Chartered Fellow of The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, a Chartered Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a Fellow of The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and a Fellow of The International Compliance Association.

Joining Royal Mail Group in September 2012 Shaun has led many improvement programmes across a range of areas – contributing to improvements in accident prevention and a reduction in road traffic collisions. Shaun has led an organisation wide attendance improvement programme as part of a broader wellbeing and health promotion agenda, with particular attention being paid to mental health, musculoskeletal issues and issues affecting an ageing workforce. Prior to joining Royal Mail Group, Shaun worked in the construction, refurbishment, infrastructure and waste management sectors and led organisations to achieve significant improvements in performance – most notably achieving ISO:9001, ISO:14001, OHSAS:18001 and ISO:45001 alongside British Safety Council ‘Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit’ across two FTSE listed organisations. Shaun has also led culture change programmes and achieved a variety of awards and accolades for the organisations he has worked in.

Marjorie James FCIPD

Group Director of People, YMCA St Paul’s Group 

Marjorie is an Executive Director, HR professional with over 25 years of experience. She is passionate about creating organisations where people can work within a culture that is inclusive and that enables individuals to balance their work and life effectively. She has worked for local, national and international organisations, designing and implementing human resource strategies that are aligned with corporate priorities.

She has significant expertise in the area of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, Reward and Recognition and Employee Engagement. Marjorie have procured and project managed the implementation of cloud-based HR Information Systems that have streamlined routine transactional processes such as payroll, recruitment and onboarding and absence management. She currently works for the YMCA St Paul’s Group (SPG) as the Group Director of People and Culture.

Marjorie recently completed the Leadership 2025 programme a development initiative aimed at addressing the significant lack of people from BAME backgrounds occupying C-suite or Board level positions in many of the leading Housing Associations. In her spare time, she enjoys participating in arts and cultural activities when she’s not spending time with her grandson.

Abi Jacobs

Director of Strategic Partnerships, L&Q

Abi is an all-round senior manager with over 15 years in strategic partnering, construction and the affordable housing sector. She currently leads an innovative partnership initiative between Greater London Authority (GLA) and her organisation L&Q which has seen the innovative partnership grown from nine housing association partners to forty-five in three years.

Abi plays a key role in decision-making and developing strategy; working with Boards to ensure good governance in line with statutes, regulations and codes. She is passionate about collaboration and partnership working; working closely with internal stakeholders and fostering a one team approach across the organisations she works for. She also works closely with external stakeholders such as Local authorities, funders, customers and suppliers.

As Director of Strategic Partnerships with L&Q, Abi leads a complex business function and engages with a wide range of people and organisations, playing an active role in several other organisations outside of L&Q. Her experience, skills and resources are used to assist partners in upskilling, building their capacity through workshops, representation at expert panels, think tanks and conferences. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building and Association of Project Managers. She holds an MBA degree from Keele University.
